More than 120 local and international players are set to vie for victory in the prestigious 2023 Zambia Badminton Open, featuring men's and women's singles, doubles, and mixed doubles categories. The four-day competition will unfold from November 16-19 at OYDC. According to Juma Muwowo, the general secretary of Badminton Zambia (BZ), this event has solidified its reputation as one of the world's premier tournaments over the past eight years. Key local contenders, such as Kalombo Mulenga, Chongo Mulenga, Ogar and Evelyn Siamupangila, Edward Mwanza, and Elizabeth Chipelewe, are anticipated to vie for medals on home turf. Despite high expectations for the local players, Muwowo stressed the need for readiness, emphasizing the intense competition that awaits them. He urged the players to be prepared for a challenging contest, given the event's highly competitive nature.
