Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023: Athletes Arrive Back Home to a Thunderous Welcome after Putting up a Good Performance in Germany. Athletes and the Special Olympics Zambia delegation arrived home around 18:00 hours and received a thunderous welcome at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport. They were greeted by parents and sports fans, led by Pastor Peter Makembo. Mayungo Kaneta, Charles Mulenga, Leticia Mwanza, and Veldah Chimama Siamatondo represented Zambia in Bocce Unified, Single Bocce, and Double Bocce. They all performed exceptionally well, securing three gold medals. Additionally, Frank Milupi achieved a bronze medal in Judo, while Nonde Kabwe, who competed in the men's 100m race, clocked an impressive time of 13.05 seconds, earning him a silver medal. Mazyanga Liwewe, the Chair of the Special Olympics Zambia board, commended the team's performance. He noted that there has been a significant improvement in acquiring gold medals compared to their previous participation in similar tournaments. In the last tournament, they could only secure one gold medal. However, this year, with the inclusion of more team members, they were able to elevate their performance to a higher level.
