The Special Olympics team has made a special mark in Germany after winning five medals, which is an improvement from previous records. Mayungo Kaneta, Charles Mulenga, Leticia Mwanza, and Veldah Chimama Siamatondo competed in Bocce Unified, Single Bocce, and Double Bocce, and they collectively won three gold medals. Frank Milupi also won a bronze in Judo, and Nonde Kabwe, who participated in the men's 100m race, earned a silver medal with a time of 13.05 seconds. Mazyanga Liwewe, the Special Olympics Zambia board chair, commended the team's performance, noting a significant improvement in acquiring gold medals. In their previous tournament, they only managed to win one gold medal, but this year, they traveled with additional team members, which has helped them achieve even higher success. Mazyanga further expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts, as well as other organizations that provided funding for their trip. The team's determination, resilience, and versatility have showcased their brilliance at the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023, thereby diminishing any doubts about their abilities. The team will be arriving this evening at 18:00hrs, while Muzala Samukonga races in the Czech Republic.
