We send our best wishes to Team Zambia, who will be competing at the Chengdu 2021 World University Games in China from July 28th to August 8th, 2023. The games are being referred to as Chengdu 2021 because they were originally scheduled to take place in 2021 but were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These are the 31st World University Games. Team Zambia is composed of 14 athletes and 4 officials, who will compete in athletics and badminton. Zambia University Sports Association (ZUSA) General Secretary Siyanga Muyundana has revealed that ZUSA had the opportunity to send more athletes but could not do so due to limited sponsorship. "The athletes are mainly sponsored by ZUSA and the respective institutions where they are coming from. ZUSA would like to thank the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) for supplementing the ZUSA budget by contributing USD 2000 towards the trip," he said. Muyundana also encouraged institutions to support university sports, as a sport has become a source of living for many. He said that a dual career pathway must be promoted. We wish Team Zambia all the best in the games!
