The National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) has welcomed the Zambia Karatekas who won more than 20 medals at the recent Zone V Regional Karate Championship. "We are incredibly proud to announce the outstanding achievements of Team Zambia at the AUSC Region 5 Karate Championship held in Harare, Zimbabwe from the 8th to 11th June 2023," NOCZ stated. Not only did the team of 20 talented athletes and 7 dedicated officials represent Zambia with exceptional skill and sportsmanship, but they also had 2 referees and 5 coaches who passed their exams successfully. Team Zambia set a new record with the highest-ever medal count in karate, bringing home a total of 35 medals, including 2 Gold, 15 Silver, and 18 Bronze. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the hard work, perseverance, and dedication of our athletes. "The team's success has not gone unnoticed. We are excited to share that the Zambian Martial Arts Federation (ZAMAF) is actively pushing for a bid to host the prestigious 2024 Region 5 championships," NOCZ disclosed.
