Two weeks ago, the bailiff, acting on an order from the Kitwe High Court, seized the Nkana Squash Club due to unsettled debt. Nkana Squash Club Chairperson, Chikusi Banda, confirmed the situation in an interview, stating that about K400,000 had been paid to Shatop Enterprises Limited. The background of the matter was that Shatop Enterprises Limited rented a portion of the club as a nightclub for five years and, after the lease contract expired, they took legal action. "What we did was find private equity and entered into a consent judgment with Shatop Enterprises Limited," Chikushi said. "We paid an initial deposit of K400,000, and then the balance will be paid over six months." Banda added that once the balance was paid, the club would be saved from being seized, and further disclosed that the club had already reopened and resumed normal operations.
