OYDC Zambia has partnered with Pickleball coaches from the United States for an engaging four-day training clinic. The training is open to several young athletes, aged between 7 and 20, and is provided free of charge. The training sessions run from 14:00 to 17:00, with a focus on introducing the sport of Pickleball to a younger audience. This collaboration aims to promote sports participation and skill development among youth. The Pickleball coaches received a warm welcome at the OYDC Zambia Centre, where they were greeted by Dr. Frederick Chitangala, the Chief Executive Officer of OYDC Zambia. He was joined by Mwange Kampamba, the Programmes Manager at OYDC Zambia, Lily Ngosa, the Lodge Manager, and Likemore Mahunje, the Programmes Officer. Pickleball is a sport that involves using rackets or paddles to hit a perforated, hollow plastic ball over a 34-inch-high net. It can be played as singles (two players) or doubles (four players). The objective is to continue rallying the ball until one side is unable to return it or commits an infraction. This initiative seeks to introduce young athletes to the sport and provide them with valuable training opportunities.
