"Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says, 'I'll try again tomorrow,'" Zambia's Fastest Female Swimmer, Mia Phiri, said. Mia Phiri is Zambia’s fastest female swimmer after swimming an impressive 26.86 seconds in Heat 2 of the 50m freestyle at the World Championship held in Japan last month. Her first event at the Championships was a surreal experience as she came out first in the Women’s 50m Backstroke with a time of 30.17 seconds. The swimmer has been awarded Swimmer of the Year twice (2017/2018) and was the first Zambian swimmer to compete in the FINA Masters World Swimming Championships held in South Korea in 2019. Additionally, Mia won a silver medal in the 50m backstroke at the 2018 Africa Youth Games and a bronze medal at the African Union (AU) Region Five Games in Botswana in the 100-meter breaststroke. Mia's remarkable contribution and performance in the world of aquatics cannot be overlooked as she sets an example, displaying courage and determination.
