MMA Zambia had a productive meeting with the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts, where they had the honour of spending time with the distinguished Minister, Hon. Elvis Nkandu, MP, and the Permanent Secretary, Kangwa Chileshe. They were also joined by the Director of Sports, Mr. Zulu, and Mr. Raphael Mulenga, the General Secretary of the National Sports Council of Zambia. During the meeting, various topics were discussed. These included MMA Zambia's achievements over the past few years, their plans for development, and the pathways for career progression within the sport. A significant part of the discussion centred on the upcoming IMMAF - International Mixed Martial Arts Federation Africa Championships, scheduled to be held in Angola in just two weeks. MMA Zambia emphasised the remarkable opportunities this tournament provides to athletes, offering a gateway to the World Championships and international recognition. The contributions of MMA Zambia to the growth of the sport at the continental level, particularly through their vice presidency within the Africa MMA Confederation, were acknowledged and greatly appreciated. Hon. Minister Nkandu provided detailed insights into his Ministry's commitment to utilising sports as a means to uplift the youth from poverty, highlighting the challenges they are actively addressing. He commended MMA Zambia's developmental strategy for its comprehensive approach, encompassing economic development and corporate sector engagement. MMA Zambia was deeply honoured to receive the Permanent Secretary's commendation for their past events, recognising the excellence of athletes and production. The enthusiastic support expressed by Hon. Minister Nkandu for the athletes attending the Africa Championships in Angola was met with great enthusiasm and gratitude.
