Project Chess Zambia (PCZ) says the 10-member team picked to compete at the National Youth and Schools Closed Championship is ready to earn positions in the national team. The Chess Federation of Zambia (CFZ) will from April 28 to May 1 stage the Zambia Youth and Schools Closed Championship at the OYDC-Zambia in Lusaka to select a national team to compete at major international competitions scheduled for this year. Following FIDE regulations, the 2023 Zambia Schools and Youth Closed Chess Championships are open to all players from ALL individuals, Schools, and Academies within Zambia. This will ensure that there is fair play for all participants who would want to be part of the Championship but are not registered members of any Chess Club. The Gold Medal winners in each Age Group Category in both the Open and Girls' Sections will each receive the full board and lodging to represent the country in the Africa Youth Chess Championship slated for June 2023?
