Livingstone, Zambia - On Thursday, 28th September 2023, the second phase of the three-part 2023 Inclusive Sport Festival unfolded in Livingstone, Zambia's renowned Tourist Capital. In partnership with Response Network, this event gathered a diverse group of 250 participants, including differently-abled children, accompanied by their support teams. These young individuals engaged in a range of sports and non-sporting activities, all under the banner of the 2023 festival's theme: "Unity in Diversity: Celebrating Inclusivity and Environmental Sustainability." Her Worship Constance Muleabai, the Mayor of the City of Livingstone, graced the occasion as the guest of honour. Joining her were notable figures such as Boniface Kambikambi, the Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ), Mutukwa Matengenya, Country Director of Response Network, representatives from the District Education Board Secretary, the Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities (ZAPD) Primary and Secondary Schools, partner organizations like Sport In Action and Edusport, as well as dedicated staff members from Response Network and NOCZ. The event took place at Bharat Grounds, adding to its significance. The grand culmination of the 2023 Inclusive Sport Festival is scheduled for tomorrow at the Bank of Zambia Sports Complex. An estimated 450 children are anticipated to participate, making it a remarkable testament to the power of unity, diversity, and inclusivity in sports and community celebrations.
