Prison Volleyball Club defeated Nkwazi Volleyball Club 3-1 on Saturday, June 17 to become champions of the Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) Open tournament held in Lusaka. The crowned champions had a tough match against Green Buffaloes in the semi-final, which was decided after five sets. Prison defeated the Army-sponsored side 3-2 to book a place in the final. The prison team had a walk-in-the-park affair in the quarter-final after defeating Copperbelt University in straight sets. Meanwhile, Nkwazi defeated Kamwala Magic in straight sets in the semi-final, after edging Red Arrows 3-1 in the quarter-final. Green Buffaloes finished third at the tournament after seeing off Magic to claim the bronze. Other teams that participated in the tournament were Chrisdgers, Solwezi Ackers, and Falcons.
