Zambian swimmers showcased their best in the pool, proving they can compete with the best in the ongoing World Swimming Championships in Fukuoka, Japan. In the 50m Butterfly, Damien Shamambo secured an impressive second place in his heat, setting a new personal best time of 26.46. Delighted with his performance, he eagerly awaits the 50m Freestyle on Friday, July 28th. The team's determination didn't stop there, as Zach Moyo gave his all in the 100m Breaststroke, clocking 1:10.10, just shy of his personal best. Disappointed but undeterred, he vowed to channel that energy for a more favorable outcome in the 50m Breaststroke on Tuesday, July 25th. Meanwhile, Mia Phiri is gearing up for the 50m Backstroke on Wednesday, July 26th, expressing her excitement to dive in and race. Coach Ian Stephenson described the first day of swimming in Japan as exhilarating. The athletes feel honored and grateful to share this experience with the world. The support from back home and around the globe has been heartwarming and motivating, inspiring the Zambian team to strive for excellence alongside the world's best. GO ZAMBIA!!
