The Vitality Netball World Cup 2023 is all set to commence today, Friday, 28th July, at the International Convention Centre in Cape Town, South Africa. It marks the sixteenth edition of this quadrennial global netball showpiece, which also celebrates its 60th anniversary, having been founded back in 1963. Running from Friday, 28th July to Sunday, 6th August 2023, the tournament will feature a lineup of competitive teams, including the hosts South Africa, along with Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, England, Uganda, Tonga, Fiji, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Scotland, Trinidad and Tobago, Wales, and Barbados. Preceding the main event, a World Netball Congress was held, attended by distinguished figures like Netball Zambia President Martha Lungu-Sichone and Secretary General Pritchard Ngoma. Unfortunately, Zambia will not be competing in this year's Netball World Cup, having been disqualified by Zimbabwe during the qualifiers.
