The intensity continues to escalate at the OYDC Zambia as the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge unfolds, with teams in the league displaying remarkable sporting prowess in their quest for top rankings. In week 5 matches held at the center, the Sport in Action Chipata netball team has emerged as the frontrunner, commanding the standings with an impressive 12 points. This accomplishment has propelled them ahead of Olympafrica, known as the league's strongest team, which had maintained the top position for several months and secured the league victory in the previous season but currently stands with 9 points. Taking the second spot from SIA Chipata netball, Mbombela Netball team boasts 12 points, albeit with a slightly lower goal count of 20, in contrast to the leading team's impressive 28 goals. Such exceptional performance has firmly established SIA Chipata netball as the current leader in the league standings. Meanwhile, the favorites of the league, OYDC, have experienced a setback, amassing 6 points. Nonetheless, they remain determined to regain their stride and fiercely compete for the top spot in the upcoming matches. Felistus Chilinda, the netball coordinator for Teulings, reveals that the games in 2023 have been fiercely competitive and unpredictable. She highlights the impressive performance of the SIA Chipata netball team, emphasizing that if they continue to exhibit their passion, dedication, and consistency, they have a promising chance of clinching the league title and being crowned champions during the grand finale of the 2023 Teulings Youth Sports Challenge. Over the weekend, approximately 10 teams from various Lusaka townships braved the cold weather to participate in the games, showcasing their talent on the playing field. The Teulings Youth Sports Challenge, a youthful competition that has been held at the OYDC Zambia since 2011, has been instrumental in nurturing talented young boys and girls from different sports disciplines. Many participants have successfully graduated from senior clubs and national teams, and some have even represented their countries in major local and international competitions. Coen Teulings, Chairman of Meridian Capital in Belgium, generously sponsors the league, ensuring its continuity and providing invaluable support to the development of youth sports in the region.
