It is good to hear that Zambia is hosting the third edition of the African Draughts-64 championship in Lusaka, and Lukanga Mambwe, an International Grandmaster, is confident in the team's performance. Mambwe mentioned that his expectations are average because he hasn't been training for a while, but he believes he will improve as the tournament progresses. Mambwe also acknowledged the talented players in the team, specifically mentioning William Chinzewe and Elijah Chanda as players to watch out for. As the host country, there is always pressure to perform well, but Mambwe is optimistic about their chances and hopes the young players can help Zambia retain the title and win medals. The Zambia Draughts Federation (ZDF) president, Raphael Lesa, expressed his happiness that the tournament is finally taking place after completing the necessary registrations and formalities for the players. Lesa mentioned that the opportunity to host the tournament was made possible by the presence of the International Federation president and a team of Grandmasters from Russia. On the other hand, the president of the Malawi Draughts Federation, John Ngwenya, expressed confidence in his players' abilities to win the competition. He acknowledged the strong players in Zambia but stated that they aim to win medals and have assembled a good team for the tournament. It's exciting to see the enthusiasm and confidence from both the Zambian and Malawian teams as they prepare for the African Draughts-64 championship. Best of luck to all the participants!
