In a significant step towards the growth and development of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) in Africa, a crucial meeting was held today between the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) and members of the Africa MMA Confederation (AMMAC). The primary objective of the meeting was to address important matters and strategize for the highly anticipated IMMAF Africa MMA Championships. Representatives from various African nations came together on this virtual platform to engage in open dialogue and collaboration. The focus was on discussing key issues related to the advancement of MMA in the region. As the date for the IMMAF Africa MMA Championships in Angola draws near (scheduled for September), extensive deliberations were also held to ensure a successful event. The meeting served as a testament to the unity and cooperation among IMMAF and Africa MMA Confederation members. Their shared commitment to promoting and elevating MMA on the African continent was evident throughout the discussions. It is worth noting that IMMAF holds a prominent position as the sole governing body for MMA worldwide, being a signatory of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). This affiliation with WADA provides IMMAF the authority to represent the sport of MMA at an international level. As a result, IMMAF is actively engaged in advanced discussions with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding the prospect of Olympic recognition for MMA. With the participation of Zambia and other African nations, these virtual discussions have paved the way for fostering a bright future for MMA in Africa, offering athletes and enthusiasts the opportunity to excel and shine on the global stage.
