Seventeen-year-old William Chinzewe, the world's youngest grandmaster and Zambia's top draughts player, secured a silver medal in the blitz category of the 2023 Draughts 64 World U23 Championships held in Turkey from October 21st to 30th. Chinzewe, known for his lethal skills, claimed second place out of more than 20 competitors with a record of 4 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss in seven rounds. The top spot in the under 23 category was claimed by Artem Kurt of Belarus. In 2022, Chinzewe also clinched the Under 17 World Championship title in Bulgaria. He expresses confidence in his ability to bring more medals to Zambia in both senior and age group competitions in the future.
