William Chinzewe, the youngest grandmaster in Africa and the World Under-20 Draughts Champion, is set to miss the 2024 Senior World Championships in St. Petersburg, Russia. The reason for his absence is a scheduling conflict with his grade 12 examinations. Zambia Draughts Federation (ZDF) General Secretary, Raphael Phiri, explained that Chinzewe's exams will coincide with the world championships, preventing him from competing for the world title. Phiri also mentioned the possibility of Chinzewe participating in individual invitations prior to his exams, emphasizing his potential to play a significant role if such opportunities arise.
