Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu says he is disappointed with the national under-17 team's disqualification from the International Handball Federation (IHF) Regional competition on the pretext of cheating. Nkandu says the government is an advocate of clean sports and will not condone cheating by Sports associations. Council of Zambia ( SCZ) to save as a warning to other federations should they be found wanting. In as much as the government has been demanding medals from federations, the minister said winning should be done on fair play. "It is disappointing that we were expecting to win some medals from the tournament but, unfortunately, we have been disqualified on the pretext of age cheating," Nkandu said. He said the statement issued by HAZ was also uncalled for and that they should have ended up informing the nation of their disqualification and their appeal of the decision to eject them from the tournament. "I think the statement was uncalled for. They should have ended up informing the nation of their disqualification and told us about their appeal. Not issues of some Zambians what and what that doesn't hold water," Nkandu said. In a statement issued on Friday, HAZ general secretary Josab Changa claimed that some Zambians were conspiring against them.
