Clatous Chama pulled off a dramatic rescue act for his Tanzanian side Simba SC on Friday, scoring a stunning 92nd-minute freekick to snatch a point in a thrilling 1-1 draw against second-placed Azam. Simba looked destined for their second defeat of the season after falling behind, but Chama intervened at the death, curling a beautiful freekick past the wall and into the bottom corner to erupt the home crowd in celebration. The Zambian midfielder, who already had two assists to his name in Simba's 4-0 win over Tabora United earlier in the week, emerged as the hero once again. This crucial point preserves Simba's title hopes as they continue their game of catch-up against arch-rivals Yanga and Azam, who occupy the top two spots with 37 and 32 points respectively. Simba currently sit third with 30 points, having played one game less than their main rivals. However, the work is far from over. Looking ahead, Chama will be hoping for a repeat performance on Monday when Simba travel to Geita Gold in a rescheduled week 13 fixture. A win there would be vital to keep their title dreams alive.
