Grace Chanda, the inspirational vice-captain of the Zambian women's national team, the Copper Queens, has finally overcome the illness that sidelined her for months and is set to return to her Spanish club, Madrid CFF. News of Chanda's full recovery brings much-needed joy to Zambian football fans, who were heartbroken when the talented forward missed the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup due to a sudden illness just days before the tournament began. Chanda, who emerged as a leader in the absence of team captain Barbra Banda during Zambia's impressive third-place finish at the 2022 WAFCON tournament, has been eagerly awaiting her return to the pitch. While she wasn't included in the provisional squad for the upcoming Olympic qualifiers against Ghana due to her extended absence, her full recovery opens doors for future possibilities. With her travel documents soon to be finalized, Chanda will reunite with her Madrid CFF teammates and focus on regaining match fitness. While her immediate inclusion in the national team may not be feasible, her aim is to be ready for the 2024 WAFCON tournament to be held in Morocco.
