The Copper Queens, an all-local team, begin their title defense in the Cosafa Women's Championship today as they take on Mozambique at 15:30 hours in South Africa. Zambia made history by winning the tournament last year for the first time ever. They are determined to put up a strong fight and defend their title by the end of the competition on October 15th. Coach Bruce Mwape selected a squad of 23 all-local players, with 11 of them yet to make their debut in international football. This tournament will serve as a major test for these players, as some of them only made their international appearances against Morocco in last month's two friendly matches. It will be interesting to see the team's performance and how far they can go in the competition. It will also be a good opportunity to gauge the strength of the Zambia Women's Super League, as the squad comprises some of the best local stars from the league. The Copper Queens are eager to kick off their title defense with a strong start. They have a talented squad, but they need to be at their best in order to overcome Mozambique. The match will be broadcasted live on DStv, SABC Sport, and FIFA+.
