The Copper Queens' assistant coach, Florence Mwila, has explained that the team's head coach, Bruce Mwape, was unwell and missed the team's 6-2 victory over Morocco on Tuesday evening, making it 2 out of 2 after winning the first friendly 2-0 on Friday. Speaking in a post-match interview, Coach Mwila said that they used the plan they had worked on together with Coach Mwape, and they were happy to get the win as it is what they wanted from the match. "We worked on the plan with the coach, and the win is what we wanted. That's what we planned for, and it's good we scored more goals." Zambia dominated the match overall from the outset. "It's good we played well and won. We talked about not relaxing because we won the first game." She, however, said that it was good to see some local players getting some minutes against a high-profile team but encouraged them to continue working hard as the Cosafa tournament won't be easy. Every team participating in the tournament wants to win it and has been improving over time. "It's good that some local players had a chance against Morocco, a high-profile team, but they don't need to relax because Cosafa won't be easy. Teams have improved, and everyone wants to win." Zambia will go into the Cosafa tournament as defending champions, with Coach Mwape going all local for the tournament as he begins a new chapter of identifying players who might be promoted to the main team. Coach Mwila says that the Morocco trip was a success as it gave the coaching staff time to see players who haven't played at such a level. "The Morocco tour has been a great one for us. Firstly, it's on the FIFA calendar, and secondly, we wanted to see players who haven't played at this level and boost their confidence and see areas that need improvement. We also wanted to let anyone in the team know that there is competition for places." The Copper Queens' victory over Morocco is a positive sign for the team ahead of the Cosafa tournament, the upcoming Olympic qualifiers, and WAFCON qualifiers.
