The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is expected to send former Chipolopolo coach Wedson Nyirenda and Copper Queens coach Bruce Mwape to Morocco in the next few days to undergo a Confederation of African Football (CAF) Pro Licence course. The duo will become the first Zambians to acquire the highest badge offered on the African continent and will join some of the most elite coaches in Africa. Nyirenda and Mwape were selected in January 2023 by FAZ after the association secured two slots for two local coaches to undergo the training in Morocco. FAZ president Andrew Kamanga said in his presidential corner on Monday that the two coaches have had to wait a little longer due to the stringent admission process. "In the next few days, Wedson Nyirenda and Bruce Mwape will finally take up their long-held CAF Pro Licence pursuits in Morocco," Kamanga wrote. "Given the stringent admission process, the two candidates had to wait a little longer." Kamanga also disclosed that Nyirenda and Mwape will become pioneers of the program in Zambia. "They will be the pioneers of this program in Zambia and join an elite club of coaches holding that badge on the continent," Kamanga said. Not long ago, then Forest Rangers coach Ian Bakala and his Green Buffaloes counterpart Masauso Phiri attended a CAF A licence coaching course in Morocco. Beauty Mwamba and Enala Simbeya also attended training in Morocco as part of FAZ's coaching empowerment program. The coaching empowerment program is one of the many ways that FAZ is working to improve the standard of football in the country.
