The Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts hosted a medal presentation ceremony today in honour of Patrick Chinyemba. Patrick's remarkable achievement as the sole male boxer from Eastern, Western, and Southern Africa to clinch a Gold Medal and secure a spot at the Paris 2023 Olympics earned him a well-deserved standing ovation from the attendees. Chinyemba's outstanding accomplishment also came with a substantial reward of US$5,000 (£100,000). The magnitude of his achievement was evident in the applause and recognition he received. In his address, the minister expressed gratitude to Patrick on behalf of the Republic's president for bringing hope through his medal. The president had lauded the Ministry's continuous efforts to support all sports. However, the minister emphasised the need for increased efforts in sourcing funds to support national federations in fulfilling their local and international commitments.
