The crowd erupted in cheers and excitement as the young boxer, Daniel Banda, known as CJ, entered the ring to display his skills. Banda, a teenage boxer from Exodus Boxing Academy, has become a crowd favorite at the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge hosted by OYDC Zambia. Having participated in eleven bouts during the 2023 Teulings Youth Sports Challenge, Banda had only suffered one defeat. On 30th September 2023, he lost to Miracle Chibota of Youth Empowerment in a 4-1 split decision in the 30kg weight category. Rather than feeling disheartened by the loss, Banda expressed his optimism for a rematch, confidently stating his intention to win via knockout when they face off again. Banda, who draws inspiration from Zambian boxer Patrick Chinyemba, a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, urged the nation to watch out for him, promising thrilling and astonishing performances in the ring. Meanwhile, Miracle Chibota, who secured the victory over Banda, acknowledged his opponent's skills and expressed readiness for a rematch, anticipating a heated fight. Ariel Banda, the Teulings Boxing coordinator, praised Daniel Banda's remarkable progress, noting that he fights with the intensity of an adult and has the potential to become a future Olympian. Banda emphasized the need for nurturing the young talent as he continues to grow. The 2023 Teulings Youth Sports Challenge grand finale is scheduled for 25th November 2023, where outstanding athletes will be honored with trophies and medals. The event has been sponsored by Coen Teulings, Chairman of Merifin Capital in Belgium, since 2011.
