The Zambia Women's National Team bounced back from their opening draw against Mozambique to beat Angola 3-1 in the ongoing Hollywoodbets 2023 COSAFA Women's Championship, thanks to a brace from Sarah Jere and a goal from defender Jackline Nkole. Copper Queens assistant coach Florence Mwila was pleased with the performance of her team, saying that they played according to plan and created a lot of chances. "This was part of the game plan," Mwila said in a post-match interview. "The three points are what we needed in today's match. The girls worked according to the plan. We had a lot of chances that we wasted. I think we could have scored even more goals." Mwila made five changes to the team that drew against Mozambique, and the new starters paid dividends, with three of the five players involved in the goals. "If you noticed the changes that we made in today's starting line-up, they were the players that played the second half in the first match, and they were more influential in attack," Mwila said. "So we saw potential in them to score, and they are the ones that scored." Zambia will play Comoros in their final group match on Tuesday, and a win will guarantee them a place in the knockout stages. Mwila says that her team will be targeting a positive result to avoid having to qualify through negotiations as the best loser. "We still need to go in and win," Mwila said. "We don't want to qualify through negotiations looking at who's the best loser." Zambia's final group match will be against Comoros on Tuesday.
