The Zambia Women's National Team, also known as the Copper Queens, have been nominated for the CAF Women's National Team of the Year award for 2023. The Copper Queens, who made their senior World Cup debut in New Zealand and Australia this year, are facing competition from three of their World Cup counterparts: Nigeria, South Africa, and Morocco. Other nations that have been nominated include Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Ghana, Senegal, and Malawi, who are fresh from winning the COSAFA tournament, which contributed to their nomination. This is a great development, as it indicates the growth and improvement that has been made in women's football over the past year. The Copper Queens have been on the rise with their current crop of stars, and the emergence of new talent, as seen in their second-place finish at the COSAFA tournament, indicates that the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is committed to developing the national team and promoting new and upcoming players. At the COSAFA tournament, the New crop Copper Queens were given a chance to showcase their talents at the annual regional tournament in South Africa. We wish the Copper Queens the best of luck in the CAF Women's National Team of the Year award!
