Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Referees Manager Aziph Banda has acknowledged officiating lapses in the Premier League. He assured that measures are being implemented to address the situation in response to complaints about poor officiating this season. Banda emphasized the need for clubs to formally report incidents to his office instead of airing grievances through social media or the press. He pointed out that without official complaints, it becomes challenging for FAZ to comprehensively address the issues. Banda expressed concern that, despite dissatisfaction with officiating, many teams have not filed formal complaints with FAZ. He emphasized the importance of following established procedures for lodging complaints to ensure a fair and effective resolution. The controversy surrounding officiating errors has escalated, with notable incidents such as Green Eagles being denied a clear goal in their scoreless draw against Mufulira Wanderers in Week 11. Nkana also faced a similar situation, being denied a goal in the Kitwe Derby as they lost 2-0 to Power Dynamos. However, Banda dismissed claims by NAPSA Stars assistant coach Geoffrey Hamakwende that poor officiating has contributed to coach dismissals. He cautioned against using officiating as an excuse for bad results and calls for fairness in evaluating team performances.
