Zambia will be looking to start their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers campaign on a positive note when they host Congo Brazzaville at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola this Friday, November 17, 2023. The Chipolopolo Boys have never qualified for the World Cup at the senior men's level, but they have a rich history against Congo Brazzaville, having won eight out of their 14 previous meetings. The only time Zambia has lost to Congo Brazzaville was 27 years ago on November 10, 1996. A win on Friday would be a major boost for Zambia, as they would then travel to play Niger in Morocco next week with a positive result under their belt. Coach Avram Grant has stated that his team is aiming to qualify for the World Cup for the first time, and they will need to leave no room for error against Congo Brazzaville. Zambia have enjoyed success in their previous meetings against Congo Brazzaville, and they will be looking to build on that when they take on the Red Devils on Friday. The last time the two sides played each other, Zambia won 3-1 in an international friendly, and Grant's team will be confident of repeating that feat. The match on Friday will kick off at 18:00hrs, and tickets are still on sale across all Shoprite stores across the country. Zambia will be hoping to start their World Cup qualifying campaign with a win and protect their 27-year unbeaten record against Congo Brazzaville.
