Copper Queens goalkeeper Hazel Nali has arrived back home safely on Saturday from New Zealand where she successfully underwent a knee surgery. The women's national team first-choice shot-stopper landed at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at 15:40 hours. Speaking to ZNBC Sports, Nali said that her doctors advised her to continue with physiotherapy sessions in Zambia. Nali missed the 2023 World Cup after suffering an ACL injury just a week before Zambia made its debut at the senior World Cup in New Zealand and Australia this year, where they lost two games and won one. The successful operation is good news for the Copper Queens, who are pushing for a place at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Morocco and the 2024 Olympics to be staged in Paris, France. Meanwhile, Zambia's High Commissioner to Australia and New Zealand, Elias Munshya, has disclosed that the government covered the cost of the surgery and some physiotherapy sessions for Nali. Munshya said the government is hopeful that Nali will soon fully recover and join the squad so that she can continue to contribute to bringing glory to Zambia.
