The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has expressed concern about the behavior of some unruly fans during Zambia's 4-2 win over Congo Brazzaville on Friday at Ndola's Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. FAZ President Andrew Kamanga said that the association had noted "a few unsavoury incidences spurred by unruly fans whose behavior fell short of the requisite FIFA standards." He added that FAZ had repeatedly appealed to fans to avoid celebrating goals or protesting decisions or performance by throwing missiles. Kamanga said that FAZ would be using CCTV cameras installed in the stadium to identify and deal with offenders. He warned that the behavior of the unruly fans could result in the country being fined by FIFA. "Apart from the bad image it gives our games, there is always the risk of sanctions that could draw a huge fine," Kamanga said. "We will be exercising the option of using the CCTV cameras installed in the stadium to identify instigators of these unfortunate incidences." Kamanga added that Zambia aspires to host international tournaments of the magnitude of the Africa Cup of Nations, and it was important to embrace good supporter practices at stadia. "As a country that aspires to host international tournaments of the magnitude of the Africa Cup of Nations, it will be prudent to embrace good supporter practices at stadia," he said.
