The Copper Queens will begin their preparations for the first leg of their 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola on Monday with locally based stars. The inclusion of Kazakhstan-based players whose league ended last month will bolster the squad. Other foreign-based stars are expected to join the team when the FIFA women's international window opens on November 27th, just 48 hours before Zambia plays Angola. Bruce Mwape's team will be further strengthened with the arrival of Hellen Chanda and Misozi Zulu from Turkey, Rachael Kundananji from Spain, Prisca Chilufya from Mexico, and Barbra Banda from China. Racheal Nachula from Israel should be able to join the team today as football was suspended in Israel last month due to ongoing conflicts between Israel and Palestine. The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga has confirmed the venue for the December 5th home encounter to be the Copperbelt Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, which has become accustomed to full-capacity attendance in recent games whenever the country hosts matches there. "The Copper Queens commence camp today for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola set for November 29 in Luanda," Kamanga said. "The 2022 WAFCON bronze winners and 2023 FIFA World Cup debutants will host Angola on December 5 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. The winner over two legs will qualify to the WAFCON with Zambia aiming to make a third straight appearance." The Copper Queens haven't had any competitive fixtures played at home in more than a year, and the December match is expected to be highly attended by fans as the team's impressive performances have increased interest among Zambians.
