The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has rewarded Lusaka-based photographer and lawyer Lovemore Kabwata, his wife Christine, and her brother Heinz with free tickets for all Chipolopolo 2026 World Cup home qualifier matches on top of replicate Jersey's. The Mpoto family, as they are affectionately known, went viral in june when pictures of them using kitchen utensils to cheer Zambia as they battled Ivory Coast in the Africa cup of Nations qualifiers at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium emerged. Their photo, which captured their infectious enthusiasm and unwavering support for the Chipolopolo, quickly gained traction on social media, winning hearts and admiration across the country. Following Zambia's impressive 3-0 victory over Ivory Coast at Ndola's Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in June of this year, the Mpoto family's support for the national team only grew stronger. Lovemore Kabwata, inspired by the use of their photo in a FAZ advertisement banner, took to Facebook to make a request. "Dear Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) I think the Mpoto Family deserves incentives," he wrote on November 8th. "Free Tickets. Jerseys. The Mpoto family watches football. Travels for football. Others don't do that but you give them incentives. Am sure you enjoy using us on your adverts." FAZ, recognizing the Mpoto family's unwavering support and dedication to the national team, responded positively to Kabwata's request. On Monday, November 20th, FAZ made a grand gesture to reward the Mpoto family for their unwavering support. In a statement released by FAZ, the association commended the Mpoto family for upholding family values, abhorring violence at stadia, and for their passionate support to the Zambia Men's and Women's National Team. The Mpoto family's story is a heartwarming reminder of the power of football to unite and inspire. Their passion, dedication, and unwavering support for the Chipolopolo serve as an exemplary model for all football fans.
