The City of Marrakesh has been a good hunting ground for the men's national team of Zambia, the Copper Bullets, for the past five years. The team has played there five times, winning three games, drawing one, and losing just once. The city is the fourth largest in Morocco and is well known for its museums and culture across the region. This evening, it is set to host Niger's game against Zambia as Niger has no stadium to call home that meets the standards set by FIFA and CAF, forcing them to play home games away from home. Zambia, under coach Grant, who is yet to taste defeat in competitive matches since his appointment as Chipolopolo coach, will be looking forward to maintaining the record of positive results in the city for the Chipolopolo boys. In 2018, Zambia was based in Marrakech during the 2018 CHAN. They played their matches at Stade De Marrakech stadium, beating Ivory Coast and Uganda in the group stage before falling to Sudan in the quarter-finals at the same venue. Zambia's most famous victory in Marrakech, however, came in 2019 when the Chipolopolo beat Morocco 3-2 in an international friendly at the stadium. Patson Daka, Fashion Sakala, Emmanuel Banda, and Klings Kangwa were part of that squad. As Zambia faces Niger, it remains to be seen whether Marrakech will continue to be good hunting grounds for the Chipolopolo. The 90 minutes will decide if that narrative is to continue or if it will be a different story. The match will kick off at 21:00hrs, Zambian time and will be live on ZNBC TV1.
