Copper Queens vice captain Grace Chanda has announced that she will be back in action in a month's time following an extended absence due to illness. Chanda, who captained Zambia during the 2022 WAFCON tournament in Morocco, was forced to miss the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in New Zealand and Australia due to an undisclosed illness. The 26-year-old has been recovering with her club Madrid CFF in Spain and is now back in full training. She took to social media on Thursday, November 22, 2023, to share the good news with her supporters. "Happy to always work with my teammates and now one month away from getting back on the pitch for competition," Chanda wrote on Facebook. "I will continue putting in a full shift in training to make sure that I am back to full fitness." Chanda will miss Zambia's upcoming WAFCON qualifiers against Angola but has wished her teammates the best of luck in the matches. "Also wishing the Copper Queens the best of luck as they play Angola in the WAFCON qualifier matches, let's wrap up the year in winning style and get the Afcon ticket. We need to make sure to continue on the winning mentality. Love to you all."
