Zambia's assistant coach, Florence Mwila, rigorously led the Copper Queens through intensive training at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka in preparation for the forthcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) second-round, first-leg qualifier against Angola in Luanda, scheduled for Wednesday. A total of 20 players, including three foreign-based athletes, convened for the crucial session, setting the stage for a challenging fixture. The return leg is slated for December 5th at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. Speaking about the team's readiness, Coach Florence Mwila expressed confidence, stating, “The team is faring well, it’s a full-house, and the preparations are going well with a few days to go before the match, and everyone is prepared; they look fit and okay.” Mwila revealed that the final squad, consisting of 23 players, would be finalized on Saturday. She emphasized the team's commitment, acknowledging the competitive nature of the selection process, stating, “The team is ready; everyone is putting in their best because they know what is at stake. If it were possible, we would have picked everyone, but we need to cut down on some numbers for the required list.” The trio from ZESCO Ndola Girls—Charity Mubanga, Avell Chitundu, and Leticia Lungu—participated in the training session, completing the local assembly of players called up for the Angola assignment. Captain Barbra Banda, Racheal Kundananji, Racheal Nachula, Prisca Chilufya, Misozi Zulu and Hellen Chanda will join the team directly in Luanda.
