Zesco Ndola Girls striker Charity Mubanga has expressed her excitement about her first call up to the Zambia women's national football team. Mubanga was called up to the Copper Queens squad along with ZISD forward Namasiku Lungowe as replacements for the injured duo of Sarah Jere and Eneless Phiri. "I feel really happy and it's my first time being called up. I'm really happy and honoured to be part of the squad," Mubanga said. Mubanga also acknowledged the expectations of the home fans and said that it is important for the Copper Queens to beat Angola and qualify for the WAFCON. Recalling on the Copper Queen's third place finish in the 2022 WAFCON, Charity highlighted the importance of beating Angola and qualify for the WAFCON. "It is very much important to get to the next round because it will mean a lot to Zambia and to us as well to participate in the tournament once again," she said. The Copper Queens will play the return leg against Angola at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium on December 5th, and Mubanga has called on the fans to come out in numbers and support the team.
