The Zambia men's national team has dropped three steps down to 84th position in the latest FIFA rankings for the month of November from 81st in October. This comes after the team played two games in November. The dip in rankings is largely attributed to Coach Avram Grant's squad suffering defeats, particularly against Niger, a team ranked outside the top 100 in the FIFA rankings. The negative movement on the Coca-Cola FIFA Ranking raises concerns about the team's performance and their standing on the international football stage. During the month of November, Zambia played two official matches. They began the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a 4-2 victory at home against Congo Brazzaville. However, their success was short-lived as they faced a challenging away fixture against Niger in Morocco on match day two, where they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat. The latest rankings clearly indicate the team's performance during the November FIFA break. Even in the match in which they defeated Congo Brazzaville, the team did not perform to the standard required of them. Zambia will next play during the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ivory Coast in January 2024.
