Chipolopolo coach Avram Grant has revealed the roadmap for his squad's preparation ahead of the 2023 Ivory Coast Africa Cup of Nations in January. The journey will commence with a weeklong camp in Lusaka during Christmas, followed by an international camp on January 1. During this final preparatory camp, all squad members will undergo stringent physical tests to assess their fitness for representing Zambia in the Africa Cup of Nations. Physical trainer Jamie Lawrence will conduct unique tests on every squad member without exception. Grant has emphasized the importance of meeting three prescribed selection criteria which includes quality, passion, and the desire to play for one's country. Speaking ahead of the local camp with the FAZ Media Team, he noted that players meeting these criteria will secure a spot in the final squad. Grant highlighted the intensification of preparations in the coming weeks, with a focus on assessing local and foreign-based players during the Christmas camp. Grant also elaborated on the selection process, highlighting that those proving themselves, regardless of their playing location, will earn a place in the final squad.The international camp, constituting the final phase, will involve working out finer details to ensure optimal readiness for the tournament. Zambia, placed in Group F alongside Morocco, Congo, and Tanzania, will participate in the 34th edition of AFCON taking place from January 13 to February 1, 2024. The coastal city of San Pedro will host Zambia during the tournament.
