Zambia's Head of State, President Hakainde Hichilema, has challenged the Copper Queens to aim for the WAFCON trophy at next year's tournament following their qualification with an impressive 12-nil aggregate win over Angola. The President took to social media to congratulate the Copper Queens for the qualification, stating that making it to the WAFCON with a bang shows hard work. President Hichilema adds that the Copper Queens' next assignment should be to qualify for the World Cup again. "More work starts now ahead of the tournament, and we set our eyes on the trophy itself and another qualification to the World Cup." He notes with enthusiasm that both the Chipolopolo boys and the Copper Queens have simultaneously qualified for the continent's biggest competitions. "Great to note that both the Chipolopolo boys and Copper Queens have simultaneously qualified for the continent’s biggest competitions." The Copper Queens will be making their 5th appearance at the tournament, having first qualified in 1995. It will be the third consecutive time that Zambia has participated in the tournament since returning in 2014 and 2018. With the 2022 tournament being the country's best, winning bronze for the first time with the current squad, it won't come as a surprise if they reach the final next year.
