The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has unveiled the final nominees for the 2023 Awards in various categories for the event scheduled for the Moroccan city of Marrakech on Monday. Zambia Women’s National Team captain Barbra Banda is one of the three finalists for the CAF Women’s Player of the Year Award. Her outstanding performance throughout the year for both club and country has earned her a spot in the prestigious shortlist. She faces competition from South Africa captain Thembi Kgatlana and five-time winner, Asisat Oshoala of Nigeria. In the race for the national team of the year, the Copper Queens, who initially made the top five nominee list, have failed to secure a spot in the final three. Senegal has also dropped out, paving the way for Morocco, Nigeria, and African champions South Africa. The Awards Gala is set to take place on Monday, 11 December 2023, at the Palais des Congrès, Movenpick, Marrakech, Morocco.
