Zambia's hopes of lifting the WAFCON trophy next year have been boosted by the news that several stars who were barred from participating in the 2022 tournament are set to return for the 2024 edition in Morocco. Skipper Barbra Banda, Rachael Kundananji, Racheal Nachula, and Prisca Chilufya were all absent from the 2022 tournament after failing to pass CAF's gender eligibility test. However, according to a report by ZNBC, the four players will now be eligible to compete in Morocco next year. Banda, Kundananji, and Chilufya have all been in excellent form for their respective clubs this year and will be looking to replicate their form at the WAFCON tournament. The return of these players gives Zambia a much stronger chance of going further in the competition than they did last time out. Since returning from the World Cup, the Copper Queens have been on fire, winning all four of their official FIFA-sanctioned matches. They beat Morocco 8-2 across two international friendlies in October before crushing Angola 12-0 across two matches to book their place at next year's tournament. With a full squad at their disposal, the Copper Queens will be a force to be reckoned with in Morocco next year. They will be hoping to build on their success at the World Cup and finally lift the WAFCON trophy for the first time in their history.
