Kabwe Warriors head coach Numba Mumamba has described his team's Saturday home defeat to Mutondo Stars as "painful" and admitted that they have lost form, picking only one point from their last five games. The Warriors, who were top of the table following a 3-0 home win over Green Buffaloes on November 4th, have now dropped to 8th after their latest setback. Speaking after the match, Mumamba acknowledged that Mutondo Stars were the better team on the day. "It was a very painful defeat in front of our home fans," Mumamba said. "I think we failed to account for ourselves in the game. We had chances, but unfortunately, we failed to convert any of them. I think we didn't play the way we have been playing, and that is why we lost. Mutondo Stars were the better side in the game, and that is why they got the three points." Mumamba denied that his team had underestimated their opponents, highlighting that the result was simply not their day. He also confirmed that their target is still to finish in the top five bracket by the end of the first half of the season to qualify for the ABSA Cup. "I don't think we underrated our opponents," Mumamba said. "It wasn't just our day. We didn't play the way we expected the team to play. The league is still on. I think for now, our objective is to finish in the top five bracket by halfway mark. That is our objective, then after the first round, we will give ourselves another objective so we can see how we go about it." Looking ahead, Mumamba expects a tough encounter against Nkana, although the match will be played without spectators. "Another tough game is coming up against Nkana," Mumamba said. "I think we just have to prepare and psych our players. This game (against Mutondo) is gone; it's water under the bridge. We just have to psych our players so that they are mentally ready for the Nkana game."
