Zambian international Lameck Banda netted a lone goal, but US Lecce could only manage a 1-1 draw with Empoli, extending their winless streak in the Italian Serie A to 10 matches. Banda, known for his pace and powerful shooting, broke the deadlock in the 64th minute with a long-range strike that went through the legs of Empoli goalkeeper Etrit Berisha. It was the Zambian's second goal of the season and a moment of brilliance in what has been a frustrating period for Lecce. However, Lecce's lead was short-lived as Tunisian international Rafia Hamza netted an unfortunate own goal just seven minutes later to deny his side a much-needed victory. The result leaves Lecce in 13th place on the table with 17 points from 15 matches, six points above the relegation zone. Despite the draw, there were positives for Zambia as Banda continued his impressive form. With 31 days remaining until the Africa Cup of Nations, Banda's continued sharpness will be a major boost for the Chipolopolo, who are returning to the continental tournament after missing out on the previous three editions.
