Zambian midfielder Edward Chilufya featured for the full 90 minutes as his Swedish side BK Hacken succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against ten-man Qarabağ in the Europa League, ending their European campaign with a whimper, losing all six group matches. The 2022 Swedish champions, who finished third in the 2023 domestic campaign, found their continental adventure a harsh reality. They conceded a staggering 17 goals across six games in Group H, managing only three goals in response. Chilufya, who joined BK Hacken on loan from Danish club Midtjylland in August, played a significant role in securing their third-place finish in the Allsvenskan, offering a chance to potentially redeem themselves in Europe next season. Despite contributing goals and an assist in the domestic league, Chilufya couldn't replicate that form in the Europa League, mirroring his team's overall struggles. With the Swedish season already concluded, Chilufya is expected to return to Zambia soon for a local training camp starting December 26th, as the Chipolopolo prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations kicking off in January in Ivory Coast. The Zambian international will be hoping to leave his European woes behind and focus on leading his nation to success in the continental tournament.
