New Forest Rangers head coach Mwenya Chipepo is setting his sights on winning the last two games of the first round of the Super League in order to secure a coveted top-six finish and a place in the Absa Cup competition. Speaking ahead of Saturday's week 16 fixture against Green Buffaloes, Chipepo acknowledged the strength of their opponents but emphasized his team's determination to triumph on home turf. "They are playing good football at the moment," he admitted, "but as Forest Rangers being at home we have prepared the team very well. We just have to win at home. Nothing like losing or drawing." Chipepo joined Forest Rangers a month ago after leaving defending champions Power Dynamos. He has settled in quickly, praising the senior players and lauding the team's positive response to his coaching philosophy. "The team is responding well to the instructions," he stated, "and they are getting used to the philosophy." Since taking over three games ago, Chipepo has drawn twice and secured a crucial 1-0 victory against his former club Power Dynamos. Forest Rangers currently sit 11th in the league standings with 19 points, three points adrift of the top six and an Absa Cup qualification spot with just two rounds remaining in the first half of the season. With Zesco United already guaranteed a place in the Absa Cup as league leaders, the remaining five spots are up for grabs in the final week of fixtures. After hosting Green Buffaloes, Forest Rangers will face Kansanshi Dynamos in their final first-round match. The race for the Absa Cup promises to be a thrilling finish, with several teams vying for the remaining slots.
