Chipolopolo forward Gamphani Lungu was the architect of a dramatic late comeback for Supersport United, providing the assist for the winner in a 2-1 victory over Swallows FC in the South African DSTV Premiership on Friday. Supersport, still smarting from a 2-1 continental defeat to Al Hilal Benghazi SC, found themselves behind in the 69th minute courtesy of Malawian international Gabadinho Mhango. However, the Matsatsantsa refused to surrender, clawing their way back with two late goals to snatch all three points and climb to second place in the league table. The equalizer arrived in the 85th minute, with Tendamudzimu Matodzi sending a wave of shock through the home crowd. But the drama was far from over. Just four minutes later, Lungu delivered a moment of magic, flicking the ball into the path of Nigerian forward Etiosa Ighodaro, who made no mistake to tuck away the winner. The win propels Supersport one point above Cape Town City into second place, a testament to their fighting spirit and the contribution of key players like Lungu, who has now directly contributed to two goals in his last two games after also finding the net in their continental defeat. Supersport coach Gavin Hunt will be delighted with the character shown by his side to bounce back from their continental disappointment. With Lungu back on song and the team in a strong league position, Supersport will be hoping to build on this momentum and challenge for the DSTV Premiership title in the second half of the season.
