Zambian winger Lameck Banda marked his 50th appearance for US Lecce in style, grabbing an assist in their crucial 2-1 victory over Frosinone on Saturday, finally putting an end to their 10-game winless run in the Italian Serie A. Banda, fresh off scoring in Lecce's 1-1 draw earlier in the week, wasted no time making his mark again. Just 11 minutes into the match, he played a low precise pass for Roberto Piccoli who beat the keeper near post. However, Frosinone refused to roll over, with VAR controversially awarding them a penalty in the 33rd minute, converted by Kaio Jorge to level the score. Undeterred, the "Chipolopolo" winger continued to torment Frosinone's defense and was voted the game's highest-rated player. But it was Ylber Ramadani who emerged as the hero, hitting a thunderbolt 30 yards out with what was the winner in the 89th minute to send the Stadio Via del Mare into raptures. Banda's contribution wasn't limited to his assist. He now has four assists to his name in the league this season, alongside two goals in 16 appearances. His performance proved instrumental in Lecce finally breaking their winless streak, bringing their points tally to 20 from 16 games. Banda's impressive display and Lecce's much-needed victory offer a glimmer of hope for the Italian club, as they look to climb the Serie A table.
